Responsibilities
If you wish to own a pet, it must be suitable for your home and lifestyle.

You are responsible for your pets and those owned by your visitors. If they cause damage or a mess, we will charge you for clearing it up, and will take any other action we think is necessary to resolve the problem.

You are also responsible for any repairs, or repairing or replacing any damage if the damage is caused deliberately or carelessly by you or your pet, a member of your household, or a visitor to your Property or their pets.

DOGS

Residents of the CEDARS Estate are able to keep a dog in their property but MUST obtain permission from CETRA beforehand. Residents are advised to simply put their request in writing, addressed to the CETRA Housing Office, 27 Cedars Road, SW4 0PN, that they wish to keep a dog in their property. The request must contain the Residents name and address and whether they are located on the ground floor, 1st floor or 2nd floor.

At the point of receiving the request from the Resident CETRA will provide a form entitled ‘Responsible Dog Ownership Declaration’ (attach hyperlink to form template here) which Residents must complete and return to the CETRA Housing Office. Please ensure you do not bring the dog into your property until permission has been granted as this can affect you being given permission if you have done so before permission has been granted.

Please be advised that any dogs residing on the Cedars Estate, as per the Responsible Dog Ownership Declaration, must be insured for liability and microchipped. If a Resident does not provide confirmation of either of these then permission will not be granted.

In addition, CETRA will not give permission for Dangerous Dogs such as;

• Pit Bull Terrier type (other names include American Pit Bull Terrier, American Pit Bull, American Staffordshire Terriers, Irish Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Irish Blue or Red Nose, XL Bully’s) 
• Dogo Argentino type (other names include Argentinian Mastiff) 
• Japanese Tosa type (other names include Tosa Inu and Tose Fighting Dog) 
• Fila Brazilero type (other names include Brazilian Mastiff)

Any Resident who is already keeping a dog in their property can apply for retrospective permission but must do so immediately. If CETRA receive information that a Resident is keeping a dog in the property and have purposely not applied for permission then the Resident will be written to and asked to re-home the dog elsewhere. Likewise, if you apply for retrospective permission but your dog is subject to nuisance complaints for things such as barking, causing a nuisance, not picking up after the dog etc. permission will not be granted and you will be asked to re-home your dog elsewhere.

If permission is granted for a Resident to keep a dog in their property they will receive written confirmation of this from CETRA and their dog would be added to the CEDARS Estate dog register. Please note that generally permission will only be granted for 1 dog to be kept in the property and when permission is granted it is for that particular dog and not a generic authorisation. If you were to get a different dog in the future you would need to go through the permission procedure once again.
